W plans to bring eir bus with the NERF kitchen. The NERF kitchen will be located in handicamp—my understanding is that the location for the NERF bus has been cleared even with the USFS.
Handicamp is located along a trail which is approx 3/4 of a mile from Main Circle. LNMK plans to bring in a kitchen as well for a short stay. Zey has a crew.
However W still needs folks to help. The advantage for older NERF folks with health concerns is that it is located in handicamp. The focalizers of this event spent much time painstakingly figuring out how to make this event as safe as possible during the waning days of a pandemic. Because of this, things are set up differently than usually done at a gathering, so please take time to read the Howdy Folks

I saw a note about NERD gathering on the NERG Facebook page. It said the dates were I think June 20 to July 4 and they hope attendance would be under 75. 75 seems like a huge underestimate if this is the leading northeastern alternative. I didn't check B's blog yet. I'm not free until August and I still need a vehicle.

The information that I have forwarded is accurate. I have been working closely.with the focalizers as i.am.setting up the medical unit. Initially, back in early March, before vaccinations were readily available, a small group of folks saw this as a local event. No one who is actually involved in the process now sees this as a small event. Several kitchen crews will be there, although this is being downplayed for sanitation reasons. According to the scouts, the site by I no found is large enough to hold an annual gathering. There are lots of springs and the water crew is setting things up so that this event could accommodate 5000 people.
The 75 attendees comment has to do with the regs which state that a permit must be signed if more than 75 people are in attendence. Smoke and mirrors. Not to worry. We've got a legal crew who are on top of it. Meanwhile, W needs a crew for the NERF kitchen.

(By that, I mean New England and New York.) That's a rhetorical question, meaning I don't expect an answer, after all I'm just venting. So, W is hauling NERF's, long in the tooth, bus village kitchen, out to western Pennsylvania, that's cool.. Too far for me to go for a short gathering (tooth too long) and probably too far for others folks also.
Too bad our tribe didn'thave a chance or opportunity to discuss other options. This time we can blame that on the pandemic. W's help will have to come from the family that there. I seriously doubt many Folks on this list going to Pennsylvania, especially if they haven't yet been fortunate enough to be vaccinated.
Our regional families haven't been together in a long time and I for one, miss folks and I hope we can gather and eat smoke, rap and jam soon somewhere in our region..
Shouldn't we at least have a Council somewhere? That's what we used to do. We just need a cool place for 20 to 30 people to hang out some weekend and rap. We've counseled on the land, (preferable in fine weather) in factories, road houses, art galleries, tents and farm houses before and we can do it again.

true. i have been conferencing with focalizers and there are a whole lot of folks involved in planning this. we are not taking reservations so we don't have a true idea of the numbers. but some of us have been in contact with other focalizers around the country and many think that PA could be big. several think that PA will be larger than "the Official National Gathering" in New Mexico, especially now that there is now a fire ban and the proposed site is at 10,000 feet, having several thousand rainbows in attendance is not out of the question. i simply don't know and neither do any of you. all i can do at this juncture is work with the very experienced folks who have been planning this event since March to make sure that it is safe and magical.
as for having a gathering in a closer location, sounds like a plan. so ed and ken, have you been involved in focalizing a scouting party to find a good site that has water, a meadow, parking, and good camping sites. are you planning to work in the kitchen--making sure that there is enough supplies to feed everyone nutritious and yummy food. are you putting a bank together so you can do the fundraising necessary to buy both food and medical supplies for the first aid station. who's planning to talk to the USFS. who's going to set up the evac plan if someone needs serious medical attention. any thoughts on how to handle things if A-Camp shows up?

I have to thank you, Name for realizing that I, for one, love satire. Your air B and B, waiting list thing was great. Incidentally, I just heard that the road to Ridgeway from the air port is closed! Man. Also, True.. if you provide enough water for 5000 folks, 5000 folks will come! It's science .
By the way, I Didn't know there was an, "official," gathering site this year. Where does that information come from? Or, are you the only one privileged to know? I did hear that, "Howdy Folks" now reads, "Howdy Name."
Did you know that at least one of the Western gatherings is breaking off into a smaller, "prism regional" ? (Kinda like we should've done.) Of course you do. You're on, "Facebook."
Name, you said, "a closer location, sounds like a plan." So true, but that's just the thing, there is no plan. Incidentally, why do you sound so bitter to greenjeans and me for advancing other ideas and visions then what you have? That's not very rainbow.
As for, "having a gathering at a closer location." It's a wonderful idea regardless whether or not I do anything about it other than dream it! Besides, I was thinking, and maybe others are also, that these are times more suited to closer family reunions. As a healthcare professional, you should realize and support that. You should realize that It's still not wise to promote huge gatherings. Especially for those who haven't been vaccinated.
As for regional and council sites in the NE, we've been there before and we pretty much know the lay of the land! We need a council to develop visions and plans. Speaking of that, when I had connections in Worcester, I arranged a couple of beautiful unusual councils. I know you remember. You were there. Well, I no longer have connections. I. E. an art studio.
It's unfortunate that you were kind enough to offer NERF a place for counsel on your land, not so long ago, only to withdraw that offer? Thanks anyway.
