Gathering in Vermont 2008

There was a regional gathering July 25 - August 3 2008 in Granville Vermont.
Here's a "Howdy Folks" invitation and directions as HTML web page.
Here is a different"Howdy Folks", which includes the Nerf-News-Fern logo as a PDF.

A permit was signed for this gathering. The permit is a standard form used by the Forest Service, and is much the same as the permit from 2006.

The operating plan (Exhibit A) is more interesting. Both the permit and the plan were re-typed from a paper copy. Let me know if you spot any errors.

NB: The word "sic" is Latin for "thus". When placed in square brackets it means that the oddity or mistake was in the original and is reproduced verbatim, so dont tell me about errors that are [sic]ed.

The plan before the gathering

For comparison, I have saved some documents as they appeared before the gathering.

The plan for this gathering was adapted from the one for the 2006 TC Memorial Gathering with this 2006 Operating Plan, or 2000 Sunbear Gathering (no plan available).

Before the gathering. the official plan looked something like this. I had to hack on it to get it from Microsoft format into valid HTML. Errors may have crept in. Nobody knows how to spell “Mattock”.
Draft Operating Plan
(from some MS office file (Yuck!) that came from nowhere, automangled into fugly HTML by some stupid program, and hand edited by me until it passes the syntax checker)

Somebody says I should not post any operating plan on a web site until it is ironed out and finalized with the forest service. I don't know who is ironing and finalizing, and I don't know how much the plan will change before the gathering. This plan is not written in stone, I don't know if anyone in the FS has even seen it. In any case, it's much the same as the plan two years ago, except that Christmas Tree Meadow (Bus Village) is no longer available for parking (nobody wanted to go there anyway), and it says it might not work to dial 911 (never trusted those newfangle cellular telephones myself).

Just to prove the plan is not written in stone, I have changed it. Ever since the above plan became "public", I have been getting email about how wrong it is. The following plan has some of those comments incorporated. I welcome further comments, especially from the Forest Service, without whom this is all just moot. Anyone should be able to send mail to me as WebMaster at (@) the domain of this website (remove www. leaving just nerflings dot ORG). Note that nerflings.COM will not work, or will go somewhere else.
